What's covered
Every session is practical, and tailored to the way your team actually works.
- The paediatric first aider's role and responsibilities
- Assessing an emergency involving an infant or child
- Infant and child CPR, including AED use
- Choking, external bleeding and shock
- Unresponsive casualties and the recovery position
- Bone, muscle, joint, head and spinal injuries
- Burns and scalds, poisoning, electric shock, extreme heat and cold
- Acute conditions: asthma, allergies, anaphylaxis, meningitis, febrile convulsions, hypoglycaemia

Does this meet EYFS requirements?
Yes. The EYFS statutory framework requires early years providers in England to have someone with a current and full paediatric first aid certificate on the premises whenever children are present. This is that qualification.
Can it be delivered over two separate days?
Yes — we work around your rota, and a blended option of one classroom day plus distance learning is also permitted.
What's the difference from Emergency Paediatric First Aid?
Emergency Paediatric is the one-day version covering life-threatening emergencies. The full two-day award adds illness and injury management, and is what EYFS asks for.
How is it assessed?
Seven practical assessments plus two multiple-choice papers, all completed during the course.
