Does this replace requalification?
No. The annual refresher keeps skills current within the three-year cycle; first aiders still need to requalify before their main certificate expires.
Is refresher training a legal requirement?
It is strongly recommended by the HSE rather than legally required. Most organisations do it because skills fade quickly, and because it demonstrates a serious approach to competence.
How long does it take?
Three guided learning hours — typically a morning or an afternoon, which keeps disruption to a minimum.
