Is there such a thing as a forklift licence?
No. What operators receive is a Certificate of Basic Training, which evidences competence on that truck type at that point in time — which is why job-specific and familiarisation training on your own site matters so much.
How long is a course?
It depends on experience and numbers. Novice courses typically run three to five days depending on how many candidates are on the course, and refreshers are usually a single day.
How often should operators be refreshed?
Commonly every three to five years, and sooner if you see bad habits, an incident, a change of truck or a change of duties.
What do we need to provide?
A suitable truck available for training, a safe area away from live operations, and the usual welfare facilities. We bring everything else.
