    What You Will Learn — Course
    Content & Outcomes

    The 1-day FAW course equips participants with practical skills and knowledge
    to deal with serious and complex workplace incidents. Topics include:

    Role and responsibilities of a First Aider

    • Legal and regulatory obligations for childcare and schools

    • Record keeping and reporting of incidents

    Assessing the situation and casualty

    • Primary survey for children and infants

    • Recovery position for children and babies

    CPR and AED use for children and infants

    • Techniques adapted for different ages and sizes

    • Safe use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

    Managing choking and airway obstruction

    • Age-appropriate responses for infants, toddlers, and children

    Treatment of common paediatric injuries and illnesses

    • Minor injuries: cuts, grazes, bruises, burns, scalds

    • Serious injuries: fractures, head injuries, spinal injuries

    • Medical emergencies: seizures, asthma attacks, allergic reactions, anaphylaxis, shock

    Scenario-based practice

    • Realistic paediatric emergency simulations to build confidence and competence

    • Hands-on exercises reinforce life-saving skills

    Assessment

    • Continuous observation of practical skills

    • Short theory check to confirm understanding

    Upon completion, participants will be able to respond effectively and confidently in paediatric emergencies
    until professional help arrives.
