Our EFAW course is a nationally recognised, accredited one-day first aid qualification.
designed to give you the essential skills and confidence to respond effectively in workplace emergencies.

Meets the regulated requirements for employers to provide “adequate and appropriate” first aid cover in low risk workplaces.

Awarded under the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). Via Qualsafe Awards (or equivalent required recognised awarding body), giving  you  a credential that is valid and respected across the UK.

A compact, focused training – generally completed in one day (typically around 6 hours of guided learning), making it ideal for businesses, small teams, or individuals who need certified first aid competence without a lengthy course commitment.

Perfect for office, shops, retail, hospitality, small businesses, community groups – settings where risk is low to moderate but readiness for emergencies is essential.

What You Will Learn — Course
Content & Outcomes

Over the day, participants will develop the skills and knowledge to act
promptly and competently in emergencies. Course content includes:

  • Understanding the role/responsibilities of a First Aider – including health & safety obligations,hygiene/infection control,incident reporting,and when to escalate to professional medical help.
  • How to assess an incident casualty safely – using primary survey technique(DRABC: Danger, Response, Airway, Breathing,Circulation),scence safety assessment,and casualty management.
  • Unresponsive casualty care – recognising when someone is unconscious or not breathing, how to place someone in the recovery position when and how to perform CPR.
  • Use of an Automated External Defibrillator {AED} – if available, when and how to use it safely as part of a cardiac arrest response.
  • Dealing with choking incidents – recognising airway obstruction and administering appropriate first aid.
  • Management of bleeding, wounds and shock – from minor cuts to severe bleeding including recognition and action in case of shock.
  • First aid for minor injuries – such as, cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns scalds, splinters.
  • Recognising and responding to common medical emergencies – including seizures, heart attack, stroke, allergic reactions, and other life threatening conditions(depending on course emphasis and time) Many providers include these extras even though they go beyond the bare minimum syllabus to give extra preparedness.

At the end of the course, you’ll have gained both theoretical understanding and practical competence — enabling you to act confidently,calmly,and correctly in emergencies until professional help arrives.

Certification & Validity

On successful Completion you will receive a Qualsafe (RDF Level 3 ) certificate which is valid for 3years.

Assessment is based on continuous practical evaluation throughout the day. Plus a short theory check (e.g. multiple choice Q&A). No lengthy exam, but you must demonstrate competence in key practical skills(CPR, casualty care, incident assessment).

No prior experience or qualifications required – the course is suitable for total beginners.

When & Where

Duration: One Day (approximately 6 hours of guided training plus short breaks).

Delivery Options: We can run the course at your workplace (on site) – ideal for teams, businesses and groups. Or we can arrange open course sessions at designated venues

Maximum group size: we maintain small group sizes for effective hands on practice (typically no more than 12 delegates per session) to ensure quality training and instructor attention.
