If you are booking for groups of staff, we can provide training at the main Edge Hill University campus in Ormskirk.

We also have training locations in Skelmersdale, Liverpool and Manchester, so please mention any preferences when you contact us with your enquiry.

Booking & Course Information

1. How do I book a course?

Just get in touch using the above contact details. Tell us the course, date, location and who needs the training.

2. What courses are available for university staff?

A new University first-aider will initially be required to complete the 3-day ‘First Aid at Work’ course.

A 2-day requalification course will be required after three years

3. Can I book training for multiple staff members at once?

Yes.

4. Is training available on-site at the university or only at Dovewell venues?

Individuals or groups smaller than 3 will be offered local venues to join. However, we can provide training at the main Ormskirk Campus for groups of 3 or more.

5. What are the course durations and times?

First Aid at Work Level 3 has 18 Guided Learning Hours which are spread over 3 days. A typical training day would have an 8.45am arrival for a 9am start finishing at 4pm leaving one hour for breaks during the day.

This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified.

First Aid at Work Level 3 Refresher

A 12-hour First Aid at Work requalifying course is available if learners produce their current or previous, recently expired, FAW certificate. The certificate should be in a format as accepted by the HSE. Requalification training should be delivered in no less than 12 hours (2 days) excluding breaks.

A typical training day would have an 8.45am arrival for a 9am start finishing at 4pm leaving one hour for breaks during the day.

Eligibility & Costs

6. Who can attend the training?

You should always clarify with your department about their needs. Dovewell Training provide First Aid training for staff departments nominate for training.

7. Is the training free or charged to the department?

Course costs are listed on the EHU Health & Safety SharePoint pages and Departments are responsible for the fee.

8. Do I need line manager approval before booking?

Yes.

Certificates & Records

9. Will I get a certificate after completing the course?

Once you have completed and passed the course, we’ll email your certificate to you and the Health & Safety Team. The certificate is Qualsafe accredited and Ofqual regulated.

10. How long is the qualification valid for?

Both the initial qualification, First Aid at Work and Requalification last 3 years.

11. Will the university’s Health & Safety team be informed of my qualification?

Yes. They need this information to help keep central records and advice up to date, such as information boards and online resources advising where First Aiders can be contacted.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

12. What is the cancellation policy?

For individuals 5 working days. For a group booking cancellation we would require 7 working days.

13. Can I reschedule if I can’t attend?

If you’ve booked and then find out you can’t attend, please contact us as soon as possible to look at rescheduling options.

Accessibility & Adjustments

14. What accessibility options are available?

This will depend which site you attend for training. All our venues have disabled parking spaces and lifts. If you would like to find out more or have any questions about a particular venue, please get in touch.
